	Fall & Winter Recommendations: Colder temperatures always bring out the worst in a car; however, a little preparation before winter may prevent major headaches later. Here are some tips that will help you winterize your car:

	• Tires:
	It is essential to change to winter tires. Tire pressure, tire balance, and wheel alignment should also be checked and corrected if necessary.

	• Oil:
	Change from 10W30 to 5W30 if necessary in severe winter temperatures, you may have to change the grade of your engine oil.

	• Windshield Wipers:
	A blur windshield causes eye fatigue and can pose a safety hazard. Check your wiper blades to ensure that they are functioning efficiently. Change them if they are old or damaged.

	• Windshield Water Fluid:
	Switch to winter windshield washer and fill the washer container with an antifreeze fluid.

	• Brakes:
	It's dangerous to drive with poorly performing brakes, especially in rainy weather. Don't postpone needed brake work. Inspect brake pads, shoes, and ABS System. Equal braking on all four wheels will reduce the possibility of sliding on slippery roads.

	• Battery:
	Most cold-weather breakdowns occur because batteries aren't delivering full power. Therefore, it is recommended to check battery electrolyte strength and battery cables. Clean terminals and protect with grease. Check the radiator belts & hoses. Test antifreeze level and strength; if there is too much water and not enough antifreeze/coolant in the system, it can freeze up, expand and break main engine components. Check the defrosters (front and back) to make sure they are working efficiently. Also, Check fluid levels.

	• Exhaust System:
	Make sure your vehicle's exhaust system has no leaks. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer and can accumulate quickly in closed vehicles.

	• Lights:
	Check all lights (headlights, side lights, emergency flashers, directional lights, taillights, brake lights and parking lights). Accidents can occur if you can't see where you're driving, or if other drivers can't see you, especially as we approach winter's short days and long nights.

	• Engine
	Tune up your car's engine to ensure proper functioning before winter.

	Spring/Summer Recommendations: It's always necessary to have periodic basic maintenance done to your vehicle. In the spring & summer seasons, however, some extra maintenance items should be taken into consideration. Follow this spring / summer checklist to ensure that your car is tuned up and ready to face the roughness of the season:
	• Oil:
	Change oil weight/grade. If you've been using thinner oil for winter (i.e. 5W30), change back to 10W30 for warmer weather.

	• Tires:
	Remove winter tires if necessary and store them in a dry place. Replace them with deep treads summer tires. Also, getting a wheel alignment service will minimize the wear on the tires.

	• Air condition:
	Check the operation of the air conditioning system. Change AC filter and gas if necessary. A marginally operating system will fail in hot weather.

	• Cooling System:
	The greatest cause of summer breakdowns is overheating. The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled as recommended. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. It is also recommended to inspect all belts and hoses.

	• Battery:
	Since winter temperatures can reduce the battery's charge, it is recommended to check the battery electrolyte strength and cables. It is also necessary to check the fluid level monthly.

	• Engine:
	Check your engine performance before spring and summer seasons. Replace filters (air, fuel, oil, etc.) as recommended especially in dusty conditions

	• Brakes:
	After the cold winter brakes should be checked. Minor brake problems should be corrected promptly. Some warning signs are pulsations, grabbing, noises, or longer stopping distance.
